Note that the item 15 for all uses of lead in solders for an exemption on
the grounds that the replacements are more environmentally damaging is
submitted to the EU by RoHSUSA.

Previous attempts to get this request listed have failed. It was first
attempted by a company in New Zealand in 2004 n the first round of
exemptions but was removed before public comment stage.

The commission wrote to me to say that my request would not go through -
they obviously changed their minds.

So - last chance - if you want to support the use of lead in solders here is
your one (and maybe only) chance to do it.

I will be publishing a boiler plate letter for download in the next few days
along with an address to send it to.

Here is the exemption request link:

Last chance guys, if you don't respond now it isn't gonna happen...........

Subject: [SMART] Another round of exemption requests

Can't help but wonder what the requestors are doing at present to supply
compliant product, but....

And especially can't help but smile at the optimism of :

15. All electronics assemblies using lead in solder
