Mark,

Components become registered with Jedec, EIA, and EIAJ when they become
multiple sourced. The IPC-SM-782 will reference only these registered
components. Be that as it may, the web calculator was developed so that users
can get the latest information for recent releases as well as components often
used but not currently registered.

The easiest and quickest way to make the calculator work for you is to enter a
manufacturers name and part number. If any of your colleagues have used the
calculator to create a land pattern for your part, it will be listed in the
user section. One need only have a clear understanding of the variables
necessary to develop a reliable land pattern. Review the variables selected by
your colleague and either accept them or change them. The resulting land
pattern will follow the principles as established in IPC-SM-782.

If you do not have a clear understanding of the variables you may wish to use
the variables suggested in the standard tables of IPC-SM-782.
