Jack,

Thanks for the reply. I have worked the Rudolph one into a few
conversations with great results and never knew it was used before. I
used slayed because as a reference to an audience being blown away by
humor it was more correct than slain.

So, since you took an interest, did you catch the rest? They are as
follows:

*	Spinal surgery set me "back"
*	Genuflection as a reference to genuine reflection of respect but
not to go down on one knee to bow in praise
*	Yes, it was Samson and the reference to concern " no longer
locked in dread( hair, dread-locks, gone, loss of strength)"
*	Cain has made me Able to have strength
*	Riddle of the Sphinx- what animal walks on 4 legs in the
morning, 2 at noon and 3 at night. Man using a cane in the twilight of
his life
*	Wrecks and sight for sore eyes is reference to Oedipus Rex,
solver of the riddle
*	Joe, John and others doing an admiral job of filling in( Admiral
Dewey)

The other ones are more obvious and hopefully need no explanation.

Thanks to all who have expressed concern for my health.

Dewey

Dewey,
For your spirited recovery, and in the spirit of welcome, and in the
spirit of reach-ing into this and future transitions, and in the spirit
of whatever, the metaphor of coming in out of the rain and entering
into a different reign, perhaps we take note of a Russky Reliability
quip:
a 'ca 1960's New Yorker Cartoon - - the only reliable Russian entity
was Rudolph, the weather forecaster - Rudolph the Red knows Rain, Dear
.

Are you aware of the use of another of your quips.also relevant,
especially if used in the plural
" Re Senator Joe McCarthy and the Fort Monmouth onslaught, Not since
the days of (was it Samson Agonistes) has an entire army been slain by
the jawbone of an ass"
Cheers,
Jack

To all,

Happy New Year!

I know this is Monday and not Friday, but I had Spinal surgery and it
set me back. Because of the restrictions posed by this, one tends to
ponder his mortality and what refection his life has had on others. As
it relates to this group, it couldn't be genuflection, not because you
don't deserve it, but because I physically can't do it.

I've slayed thousands with the jaw of an ass and while no longer locked
in dread and my strength aided by a cane, I have at least completed the
riddle of the Sphinx. Wrecks havoc on your health is an understatement,
but seeing yourself up and about is a sight for sore eyes.

So what have we learned? Werner said he had never been called a Reindeer
before, but his lovely wife has told me she has had to tell him to come
out of the rain, dear. Joe, John, Brian, Blair and others can do an
admiral job of filling in for me, as it relates to humor. That technical
viability formed part of the rationale for a

Lead-free initiative was a stretch, but this next program is a real
reach. That John is suffering the effects of The Egyptian River Syndrome
in dealing with the EU on Lead-free issues. Everyone is in denial.

As I was reflecting on these things I noticed the words on my board.
They consist of 5 statements that came from a bigger list I had from
something I wrote many, many years ago. When the term" The Peter
Principle" came out, I wrote " The Peter Pan Principle" as a Manager's
guide to Never -Never Land to deal with the time of MBOs( management by
or in spite of objectives) and other lack-of-management-skill terms.
They still appear to be pertinent. They are as follows:

* Never let the grasp of reality hold you back.
* Never let the voice of reason drown you out.
* Never let the lights of wisdom shadow your intentions.
* Never let an intellectual spark ignite your creativity.
* Never let the cataracts of conscience dull your vision.

Use them as you see fit. I know I will because we are now embarking on
the journey to accommodate RoHS compliant (Lead-free) parts and
assemblies in Aerospace product, not because we have to but it is an
eventual reality that we will need to deal with anyway.
