We classify it the same as any other solder contaminated materials, such
as gloves, hand wipes, paper towels or other materials that come into
contact with solder paste. Depending on your state's classification of
waste steams, it could be generalized under Contaminated Clean Up
Materials, and also include anything contaminated by isopropanol, SMT
adhesives or other such process chemicals. Review with your state
agencies if they provide consulting services without possible threat of
citation. Proper classification of your waste stream is just as critical
as proper handling and disposal of it. If the root of your question is
can you toss them in the trash, the answer is no.
