I'm thinking, thumbs in ears, fingers in nostrils, and eyes squeezed shut
real tight might work if you could figure out how to stay that way and
still hit the 'close hatch and re-pressurize' switch real fast.

I'm also pretty sure I could survive a plane crash by jumping up just
before we hit the ground....

Presumably the guys in Starwars looked in their history books and saw that
way back in 2001 Astronaut Frank survived going outside without his full
spacesuit.
(Yu may remember he had to get back into the Ship without his helmet
because
HAL the computer had thrown a hissy fit and locked him out.)
((Those of a certain age may even still be able to remember back to the
1960's when this entire debate with exact same arguments also took place,))

(((and if you are still interested enough you can read all about it in
Arthur C Clarke's subsequent commentary in one of his later books I think
it
was called something like "The view from Serendip")))

Happy Friday

Mike

OK, so your in space, no space suit. about to boil or blow up.
And a tree falls over, do you hear it?
Did the squirrel manage to get to safety?

Ok, who's sad enough to have their own light sabre?

;-)

Going home for a rest shortly....

You probably won't explode. Just swell up and start oozing all of your
fluids. Have a good lunch.

Assuming the body temp is ~36°C, the vapour pressure is ~40 mm Hg, so my
guess is that, if the extracorporal pressure is less than that, you'd
boil and die of massive embolisms caused by vapour locks, although your
lungs may turn inside out first. I don't think explosion is a option,
although, if you excuse my being crude, you may fart so much that the
jet propulsion effect will send you out of orbit :-)

character that has human organs is sent unprotected into deep space. The
debate is over what the affects of deep space is on the human body. One
side
supports the idea that in a gravity free environment the human body would
be
depleted of oxygen and death would come from asphyxiation while the other
side states that the blood would boil and the human organs would explode.
As
so, the Star Wars movie in this scene is inaccurate.
