	Joe,

	I've not seen any pertinent standards regarding predictable rotation
	of components, other than our own:

	"All component symbols shall be constructed such that the progression
	from pin #1 to pin #2 is predominantly +x.  In the event that pins
	1 and 2 are on a 45-degree axis (such as some connectors or small
	can-type transistors) the component shall be presented such that pin
	3 falls in a +x direction."

	In practice this has worked well for us although it does lead to an
	odd-looking presentation in some cases.  It has been our hope that
	this predictability would help some assembly folks in their setups
	but that has not become clear.

	Perhaps if this approach became more widespread?
