Hi ya' Paul,

I gotta' admit, I had to read that twice when I first saw that...that is
quite a bit, but that's what the regulation says. All these regulations can be
viewed at your lesiure by going to:
                                       http://www.baaqmd.gov
You'll need adobe acrobat to read them, they're all *.PDF files...

Here's another regulation that will get you going too, Regulation 11,
which addresses lead emissions specifically:

11-1-300 Standards

11-1-301 Daily limitations: A person shall not discharge any emission
of lead, or
lead compound of lead calculated as lead, from any emission point in
excess of
       6.75kg per day.

11-1-302 Ground level concentration limit without background: A person
shall
not discharge any emission of lead, or any lead compound calculated as
lead,
that will result in ground level concentrations in excess of 1.0ug/M3
averaged over 24
       hrs.

Even I'm gonna admit that's pretty loose. I think the focus of most of the
regulations deal with ODP and greenhouse gases here...plus all the chemicals
involved in silicon processing.

I came out here back in 1976 to Moffett Field Naval Air Station when they were
cleaning up Fairchilds big mess ouside the east gate of the base...Moffett
Feild is one of the superfund sites too. This is nothing to be proud
of...that's for sure. I think this might be one of the numerous things that
pissed off Ted Kazinski when he was writing his manifesto against technology.

But still, in the grand scheme of things, our industry's contribution to the
lead pollution of the world is miniscule compared to everything else. Doesn't
make any pollution okay, but we're really not the bad guys...
