Steve,
He is referring to a Manual bonder, not automatic wire bonder. Manual
bonder has a simple position system and a handle to push for each bond...You
still need a machine (look like a sewing machine with wedge...nothing
fancy!) with optical microscope... by the way, if you really want to get
into the manual bonding business, you can talk to Palomar or K&S, they may
know who has some old manual bonder for sale...(you need some
training...take IMAPS tech course (at end of this month) about wire bonding
for a good start...The wire bonding god is teaching this fall..you are a
lucky chap if you go)...

check following web site for bonder infor and contact telephone numbers:

http://supersite.net/semin2/palomar/home.htm
http://www.kns.com/pro-8000.htm

Good luck for your diversification, multi-talent, increase responsibility,
flexibility, etc.etc. (mention it to your sales guy..there is a price tag
associated to get into even "manual bonding"...He may back it down..).

may god be with you this time too...
