In addition to Sergio's posting - is any of the suggested freeware viewers
include DRC capability? If yes - is it thorough or just basic?

Hi Sergio,

I like Lavenir Viewmate the most because it's a bit easier to use than
the alternatives that I've tried. Just drag a filename from the windows
explorer to the Viewmate workspace and it'll load and display ! Another
strong point is that it can zoom in and out with lightning speed.

can anyone give me the rundown on the gerber file viewers they are
using?

i have been using:

gc-preview

and

camtastic..

i like camtastic in that it can print multiple parts on one page..

but the image i get from it doesn't seem very true..

are there any others i should try?
