I, too, don't know the reason (and hope to get additional) why the
company designer designed it in such a way.

Because someone is thinking too much?  

I can see a pin one (orientation) difference, but I can't imagine any 
mechanical or electrical reason to change pads because of their shield
GND 
connection.  And under an LGA, I'd much prefer just a chamfered corner
than 
an oversized homeplate orientation pad.

Not an LGA fan to begin with, ideas like this don't make me feel any
better 
about them.
