Ted ;
this subject being relatively "new" in our conservative circles ;
I'd recommend you doing your own research .

When I tugged on the dogpile search engine (just ask your search for
>dogpile engine< ;
one of subs (Thunderstone) gave 336 listings ; and I did not go further .

Why I did so ; after reading postings so far :

In my dark past behind iron curtain I've been involved with air and blood
streams ;
in and out of body (respiro/dialysis/sport/mil);
ionic (pos/neg)effects of oxygen intakes onto hemoglobin plates ; virus
sterilisations ; and ;
you guessed it : mineral solutions within the streams .

The combinations of ionic manipulations/treatment of both air-lung and
blood-arteries/pipes and magnetic polarisations of major arteries paths did
display a definite and validated effects on condition of solutions and pipes
being influenced .
The task of tying of as much of O2 onto hemoglobin ; and as much calcium and
potassium in stream and off walls (arteries) has been concluded (and in
naive understanding resulted in fashion of magnetic bangles of any kind) .
The ferromagnetism does not cover electromagnetic spectrum even in minute
segment ;
and your application will differ even using plastic (hospital no scale
grades) or metal (common copper) pipes .

I know you're on realistic line ;
however very much cutting edge (remembering the filters of various sediment
attractor mediums ; currents of all kind; etc.);
don't expect much help from mainstream interest (when do you thing we phase
out CRT's? ).
Also your purpose (retaining minerals in solution and off the walls
(descale); taking minerals off (filters);
plain washing : will influence the construction of your water treatment
plant .

For simple washing you may read on :
http://www.aquadoc.com/magnetic.htm ; and alikes .

See you

Ps
Norman would know the aspirin effect very much in trend nowadays .
With bit of electro(static/magnetic) management he would not need it .

Subject: [TN] Removing calcium from water

Has anybody heard of, or used a device that is basically a magnetic type
filter (so I'm told) that is used in line to soften water.

If so I would appreciate any info:
                - approx cost compared to typical water softner
                - maintenance
                - life expectancy
                - efficiency

Ted
