I just did an audit on a Metal core manufacturer on the first of the
month. If you hadn't already I would note the dielectric material as well as
the dielectric thickness. I would also suggest you detail how you want to
singulate the PCA's, punch, V-score or both.
As Mr. Carter mentioned talk with the board house, they can tell you
what they need and want. Most importantly ask lots of questions if you know
what you want to do and unsure how to do it they will tell you what will
work and what will not work. If you get a chance ask them to see the
process, it will give you a better understanding of how it is put together
and the obstacles they face, it is a pretty interesting process.

eeek. We just ventured into metal backed pcb for thermal management and it
was new to us as well.
On the drawing with the manufacturing notes we simply added a detail named
"Stackup Detail". It is essentially a small pcb cross section. It is a
dimensioned cross section showing drill dia and depths. Our pcb vendor
helped us create the detail. After all, they are the ones who needed it, so

it made sense to ask them what they needed and how they wanted it. They
essentially approved it for us before we released it.

Subject: [TN] Metal core PCB

Dear Technos,

How should a metal core PCB be specified? I mean besides specing 1mm
thick Aluminum and 2oz Cu, what should find its place in the tech notes?

Thanks,

Ioan
