There are a lot of component materials that can not take the heat and need to be hand solder. Hand solder with a soldering iron has its purposes. It does not expose the whole body of the component to reflow temps. It is much slower, but it is still widely used for repairs, mods,...

Hand solder stations are much better used for hemmorhoid removal than
for soldering parts.
