Hello again; This is a modification of a previous message. We are
interested in information on BARE BOARD testing of PCB's having
integral or buried passive components, specifically, thin or thick film
planar resistors or layer capacitors. We would appreciate a response to
the following questions:
1. What type of design data do you need, gerber, net lists, bills of
material with component values and count? If you use an outside
service, what data do they require?
2. What type of test equipment and fixtures are used? Is special
CAD/CAM software required?
3. Do you require files which show specific component values
(i.e.R1=100ohms +/- 1%)? How do you merge these files with your net
list. Is the net list IPC D356 or what? Do you do a Gerber extraction?
4. How do you program the tester? Do you use a custom input data test
file? Do you do a self learn using a "goldenboard.? Are there problems
interpreting the test results. Does the technician have to refer back
to the original schematic?
5. Do you laser trim to value? If allowed, what rework mathods are
employed?
Finally, in your opinion, what new materials, processes, methods,
equipment or software is needed to facilitate the use of this
technology? Your response to the above questions or other comments will
be greatly appreciated.
