     Shannon,

The best place to start is with what you have now - the "As Is" as the
Business Re-engineering Gurus say. You said you have your own way of
designing boards already, so get this down on paper in the form of a
(large if need be) Flow Chart, with boxes for each stage, each input,
and each output. Big sheet of paper and scribbled boxes and arrows all
over the place is fine to get it all captured. Get as many people to
contribute as possible - make it show what ACTUALLY happens.

Then turn the process into what you WANT to happen, and draw up a new
Flow Chart that does it efficiently - you'll be surprised what you can
improve once you look at it.

Hope this helps you in your endeavours,

     Clive ffitch

My manager has assigned me the task of creating a kind of PCB design
methodology. We currently all have our own way of designing boards and are
looking for ways to capture this information on paper. I've gone to IPCs
web page and printed out anything and everything on PCB design. Do you
have any suggestion on where I can start?
