I agree with Scott, you would have to fight me for my Metcal!  The ease of
tip changes, the warm-up time, lightweight, they are great.  Our company
buys them exclusively now for all hand build operations.

I've used weller & edsyn irons in the past. About 1.5 years ago we bought a
metcal (MX-500TS-11) and since then I hate it when I have to use anything
else.
It's better for everything from Fine pitch to power terminals. If you have
a good metcal rep. in your area you should be able to get an evaluation unit
for a few days. That is what sold me.
