Doug:

I knew a facility that did use Cascade dishwashing detergent in 
their post hot air leveling cleaning equipment.  The boards 
turned out looking clean and nice and shinny, however, the 
surface insulation resistance dropped  greater than four decades 
as tested on a Bellcore type test comb.  Commercial products can 
be used but you had better know what residues are being left on 
your boards and know how they will affect the reliability of your 
product.

No more confused than those who want to use Tarn-X for Copper as a flux 
(don't laugh, I've been asked), or Cascade dishwashing detergent for a 
saponifier.  It is sometimes frightening, the number of manufacturers who 
want to use Walmart as their materials supplier.
