We regularly cut heatsinks from copper sheet 1.6mm + . We utilise a 2 headed
routing machine which has been modified to include
spray mist coolant. We utilise standard metal removal helical cutters rather
than the shredder cutters used to cut pcb material.
I guess any CNC router that has some control on the z axis could be used ,
but it has to be totally enclosed and extracted if you are
going to use the essential coolant
