I have a conveyorized system from which a board passes from a alkaline
cleaner running at 50 C to a cold water rinse. The differential in
temperature, along with the alkalinity is causing calcium build up in my
rinse.

Do you think this type of unit will stop this or do I need to remove the
calcium through typical soft water treatment.

Ted

Yes, I've used one.

The cost is about £30 sterling.

They are maintenance free.

They are claimed to last forever, as long as the magnetic field is present.

They are not as good as a traditional water softener. I have found that
they
don't totally soften the water (they don't remove any chemicals). They work
(I seem to remember) by aligning all the ions in the water the same way
which some how stops the hard water chemicals from sticking to anything.

If you need to remove the hard water chemicals use a traditional water
softener (Resin type)
