Yikes!  We have the opposite problem.  We have gone through
        considerable effort and expense to develop a Design For
        Manufacturability and Design For Test (DFM/DFT) Manual that we
        can't get anyone (outside our facility) to pay attention to.

        We actually end up having to quote in built in rework, built in
        hand assembly (when it could/should be equipment assembly).

        My favorite is having to submit process performance charts to
        our Customers and have them ask over and over again, "What are
        you doing to process out those solder bridges?"  when the
        response is, "Having you, our Customer sign off the ECO that
        changes the orientation of all those bottomside components that
        are 180 degrees out."

        We RARELY have design input.  By the time our Customer gets to
        us, they've already prototyped their design in a lab and think
        that's good enough.  it's not good enough unless it can be mass
        produced on the equipment it's ultimately intended for.
