Cathy,

The biggest difference is that if you are using any fluxes that have an
activity level higher than L0 or L1, then you must validate your cleaning
process in accordance with Appendix B of J-Std-001C. This is a costly test.
So, pricing of product built to class 3 if your facility uses higher
activity level fluxes will have a cost impact since this testing is
required. Refer to paragraph 4.2 of J-Std-001C.

If you have a customer that demands it, they should be willing to pay for
the validation testing. If your company wants to advertise that it is
capable of class 3 work then you'll have to have the results of the testing
done as objective evidence that you are qualified to run product with active
fluxes.
