Underfill, with a tailored CTE, to enhance thermal cycle performance is a lot
more expensive than conformal coatings. And, to flow out into a thin film
typcially would require preheating the board to 50C-90C. So, if conformal
coating is all that is needed, using it would reduce material and process cost.
