One that you missed is flexibility...what range of components can a
station handle, also projected lifetime of consumables (tips etc) and
their replacement costs. Also ...is it any good, can it perform the job
well, how much training/experience will the user require to become
proficient.
to answer the three points you did raise
1 . Control / precision of the station
2. Cost
3. Power
From my experience Production Engineering are the main specifiers of this
type of kit...hopefully the last person to specify would be a purchasing
manager. Let the guys who know what they want specify it, then let the
purchaser do his/her job and get it at the best terms.
Just a thought or two
have a nice one

Subject:soldering stations I'm conducting market research on soldering
stations for electronics rework and would appreciate any information you
could
provide.
Specifically - I'd like to know how you would rank the following criteria
in
terms of importance in selecting a soldering station for rework:
A. Cost of the station B. Control / precision of the station C. Power
(heat and speed) of the station
I'd also like to know who typically has the most influence on the buying
decision:
A. Line engineer or supervisor
B. Purchasing manager C. End-users on the shop floor
Thank you very much in advance for your response. Any additional comments
are
welcome.
A. Crews
