I randomly selected a few of you to send pictures to.

We too have a very low defect rate.  But the problem is that production
and QA can't agree on acceptability of those in the pics.  Quite
frankly, I beleive that this can't be reliable solder joints.  However,
I have to argue with someone who has a solid 10 year more experience
than I do.  I'm short of explanations!  Then again I could be out of the
park (is it the right expression???)
