I am forwarding some questions that we have on the labeling of your
PC boards. We are looking at updating or labeling methodology. Please
pass on your learning experiences in this area!

     To PC board assemblers:

*How do you mark your boards?

Two ways: one is through the artwork master pattern which
identifies the board number and artwork revision on one side of
the board and the assembly number on the other side.

The other way is by labeling where the assembly number, serial
number, and revision are laser printed onto the label and the
label is applied in a defined area of the board.

*Do you serialize your boards for your process?

        Absolutely!

*Do you use linear or 2D barcode symbology?

Both. Some Customers scan information, others read. So we have
        both on the same label.

*Do you use print and apply label systems or laser mark systems? What
type of problems have you encounterd with either system?

Print and apply. Problems: sometimes the characters are
illegible. The worst problem has nothing to do with the actual
label but the information that is put on them. Only as good as
        the inputter you know!

     Thanx in advance!
