     There are two types of bonding mainly. Mechanical and 
     chemical/metallurgical/Van der Waals/etc. If you can easily pop off 
     the solder and no AL comes up with it, it means mechanical adhesion is 
     there. Try polishing the Al. If the solder is difficult to remove 
     and/or AL comes off with the solder, the second type is in place. You 
     will have to change the surface chemistry of the Al.

Yes, we've noticed that to. Why, we're not sure. But we changed the
material on our pallets and use a compressed fiberglass pallets. 
But the "frame" around our pallet is made of Al. There we can see solder
sticking pretty hard onto the frame. Strange.
