Hi folks:

My name is Paul Anderson - a PCB Designer and Cad Librarian at Amherst
Systems in Buffalo, NY.
Have any of you seen the following error using PADs POWERPCB 2.1 on
WIN95? If so, how did you recover
from the error?

fatal database error number 317
width is out of range
actual value: 0
should be between 0 and 250
please read online help recovering from database problems

The above error was seen when attempting to import an ECO file created
from netlist compare.

The PCB (original) was created from the ascii export/import cycle of a
previous design. The PCB (new) was created from importing an ascii file
from Viewdraw.
The same error msg appears when netlist compare is attempted with the
same PCB (original)
and the ascii file directly from Viewdraw (skipping the Viewdraw ascii
import step).
Problem seems to be with some PCB database error not filtered out (or
perhaps created) during the ascii
export/import cycle. Problem is not filtered by the modeless database
integrity test either.

Spoke earlier in the week with PADs tech support regarding a recurring
error appearing
after every ascii export which created invalid records beginning with a
plus sign (+) on a line
by itself, followed by several lines of what appear to be coordinates
and pad records.
The tech rep suggested the steps taken above.

Have any other powerpcb 2.1 users experienced similar problems with
import/export?

Since all I would really need to save from the original PCB is the
component placement info
and the card outline, is there a way to just export that data separate
from all the rest and import
the current netlist info?
