Well actually the paper is just looking at bare boards, but the work was
to support was Denny has said.

Just the act of spilling stuff onto/into your portable device will void
most warranties. The problem we have is people don't tell us and want
us to fix their mistake at our expense.

So, if you want to fool around with the device after a mistake, it might
work and it might not or it might work for a while. We are a Class II
company and all the parts we buy are not guaranteed to be hermitically
sealed - thus my questions about non-aqueous cleaning earlier.

with all knowledge from u gurus I know it cannot happen as electronics
is so
rugged today. so I open it up, separate the PCBs remove the camera and
ultrasonic clean the assemblies in pure IPA. Bake at 75 degC for 1 hour
and
its OK.

Strongly suspect that Bev Christian (RIM- Blackberry) and others in
telecom
may have strong comments on self repair procedures.

Bev will have an interesting paper at next IPC Expo on reverse analysis
of
returned Blackberries, and "CSI - Miami" type analysis of what these
little
electronic marvels get dropped into. Stay tuned.
