The only place we use support mechanisms in our SMT process is at the screen printing operation.  We found them to be unnecessary in our placement machines.

Your results may not be the same due to differences in machinery or board rigidity, but it could be worth trying...

I am looking to move away from tooling pins as a support mechanism for our high speed / flexible placement machines. I'm looking into some of the more prominent flexible tooling manufacturers in the industry (Gridlok, Quicktool and Count on Tools). We have Fuji equipment here, so I'm asking for some feedback about what other Fuji (or other placement equipment) manufacturers are using any why they chose that supplier (advantages/disadvantages).
