Larry,

There are two major concerns when using these type organic coatings. The
first is the shelf life. Most of these coatings are good for no more than one
yea, and that is if the storage conditions are optimized. The second is the
number of heat cycles they can withstand. With mixed technologies, the boards
are subject a number of successive heat cycles, during assembly. The coatings
must be able to perform all the way up to the last heat cycle. It depends on
your assembly requirements. Some of the suppliers have claims of 3 - 5 heat
cycles. I have yet to see one that actually performed well up to five heat
cycles. Again it really depends on your asssembly processes.
