Section 4.2 applies to metal core boards only (type 5 & 6 per 6012D 1.3.2), it does not apply to conventional multilayer boards. On metal core boards, IPSep is allowed on metal core layers other than copper, provided that it doesnt extend beyond 50% of the core layer thickness. If the metal core is copper, no IPSep is allowed. This is regardless of laminate type.

   Can anyone out there provide a clarification to the above IPC Standard criteria.   Is any evidence of IPsep acceptable on LF FR4 laminates.   The presented photos and lingo is different from pervious revisions.
