What you are seeing is probably not related to the problem we're having.
Our Prepreg supplier has sent us lots that have labels indicating exactly
the same parameters for Resin Content and % Cure, however, one lot will flow
so much that we need a chisel and hammer to break the 'book' apart, and the
next lot won't even have a visible flow beyond the foil perimeter. When we
submit samples to them, they report back that everything is in spec. We
even had to adjust our press cycle to accommodate these variations, and
experienced dryness on some loads. We decided the chisel and hammer was
better than dryness and scrap.

Earl,

I see!!!!

Okay then, we've used this same prepreg for years without issue. What we are
seeing now, we first had mistaken for measling until evaluations were
performed.

The problem has been isolated to the prepreg. The supplier did confirm that
the resin content was below the required percentage. They also followed that
up with we were running our press at the lower limits for their product. We
indeed within the parameters they had set, but we still had problems.

Has anyone else experienced this condition recently? The supplier has
communicated to us they are resolving the issue at their facility, so we'll
see I suppose.

We really don't want to begin qualifying another supplier at this
point.Besides dumping the supplier, what might some options be?

I am surprised no one else has witnessed this????????????

By definition the 7528/9 material's resin/glass ratio (about 45%) is resin
starved. Let's start something with that comment.

Curious! Has any other fabricators experienced resin starvation with their
7629?

Any thoughts? Solutions? Besides changing suppliers of course!

Thanks,

Franklin
