I would like to express my deepest and most saddistic thoughts for the
person who came up with 0201 chip components. Life is not hard enough
without some small-brained person coming along to take the 'smaller-is
better' thing to new and extreme depths.
This person (or persons--hey, why not let it be a post-communist
conspiracy?) deserves to have his entire inventory lost in his eye as a
technician sneezes across the bench from him. This sounds like something
that Dr. Seuss could write a story about: 'Horton Hears a Placement
Machine', wherein the protagonist finds a whole contract manufacturer on the
head of a pin, only to lose it in a gust of hot air from a marketing guy.
Perhaps, we could design a component that needs only one fine of
-325+500 solder paste, to be placed by trained stepto-coccus viruses and
reflowed with the same hot air as mentioned above. Perhaps we shouldn't
place anything at all, say we did and go home. Those darn little chips just
take up so much space anyway, just like the people who designed them.

(Please excuse the above rant. It's Monday, this was the first TechNet
email I opened, and by Jove, this was a @#%& good target. BTW, I have no
experience with 0201's. HAve a nice day.)

Does anyone out there have any experience in placing 0201 chip
components. In particular I need information on placement , stencil
issues , paste issues etc. Does the quality of the board need to be
improved from class 2 to class 3.
Any input would be appreciated.
Regards. Gerard O'Brien
