Technique matters.
I had 5 lines with TU stations after wave or select soldering.
There was solder splash found 2 ft above the PCA on several stations.

Most of it came from careless cleaning of the solder tip.
One day a solder short came back from the field and large effort made to
get this back under control.
The SMT rework stations had little of the splashes.
The difference was in line vs off line work, less pressure to make rate.
Root cause, too many touch up points.
