Chris:
A resist stripper MIGHT work, but only if you use one that is properly formulated, without highly alkaline ingredients.   If you have Choline or similar ingredients in stripper, it will attack acrylics and polyimide.
Key factor is pH.   pH should not be over 11.5 for it to selectively strip photoresist.
I would be happy to send you a sample of a stripper with appropriate formulation.

I said: "well it is translucent, and it isn't blue".  IMO it is almost certainly the acrylic adhesive.

Could I put the mount in a bath of resist strip and see if the inclusions dissolve?
