I finally found time to get the info! Sorry so long.
We purchase Goldfinger covers from:
United Foam Plastic Corporation
4125 34th Street
Orlando, FL 32811-6418
There is a two month lead time, but when you min/max stock it, it shouldn't
be a problem after startup inventory. Cost = .38 cents each, but they are
reusable for extended periods of time. The ones we buy come in 6 inch
lengths, I don't know if other lengths are available. We do end up cutting
the 6 inch lengths into various other lengths that are standard on the
product we build.
The actual goldfinger protection process is this:
Use kapton tape prior to wave operations. After wave, remove the tape,
CLEAN goldfingers, and then use the plastic covers. This makes removal and
reinsertion at the test and inspection operations simpler.
Hope this helps!
Jan

For those of you waiting for a part number (I promised a part number of the
goldfinger covers we use) I ran into a tiny problem with the covers having
been ordered ONCE years ago and now no one remembers who or where we got
them from.
But I am on a mission now, and will post the part number as soon as I get
one.

We are trying to reduce the number of units fail at system test due
to
flux on gold finger. We know so far that the flux is deposited onto the
goldfinger during touch-up or rework and to reduce the contamination we are
planning to implement 'taping' the gold finger during touch up. Need some
advice on what kind of tape we should use or is there any other simpler
solution
that we can implement.
Appreciate the help.
