What temperatures will the device see (both external and internal) in the field?
There are companies that make equipment for monitoring lava temperatures. If they can do that, then the inside of an oil well should be pretty ho hum.....

Subject: [TN] high temp environment
Hello Technet!
We are discussing an opportunity with a customer who is looking at placing an instrument down-hole in an oil well, hence a high temp environment. Are there any good resources around to help me with this one? Obviously I need high temp solder (Sn96Ag4?), the components will have to be carefully picked, and we will need PWBs that will be OK at high temp (polyimide?).
I've got some homework to do! :-)
