More of an aside than an answer:
A little while or so ago I was in my roof looking for something and instead
came across an old Kodak Carousel full of slides, it was a one of a series
explaining theory of fluxes, finishes, solder pastes, alloy choice and stuff
like that.
An amazingly large [about half] this 20+ year old magazine could be used as
is (If I could find a projector), and half the remainder probably would be
OK if I updated the equipment pictures and so on. Some I no longer really
remember the issues discussed but the rest probably will re-cycle into
fashion/use at some time, like quite a lot of the stuff that we think is
new.
So the message is: in this industry get used to repeating yourself. The
basic science stays the same, the audience just keeps changing!

Kind Regards

Mike

Steve, Rudy, et al,

I also find myself mildly annoyed that the same topics recurr with such
such regularity, and wonder why people don't check archives (or have better
memories, or don't read their TechNet postings). Having said that, I do
quite like to have old subjects dusted off a bit from time to time, in case
there are new angles available on any of them. It's amazing what new
nuggets of gold appear for many preiously discussed threads.

Where's the pot to put this 1 cent into? Next to the till? OK

Hey Rudy,
You're not the only one repeating yourself. It seems that the same
questions are being asked without an individual first checking the
archives. Maybe that's too time consuming for some folks or others may not
be aware of the search query capability at
http://www.ipc.org/html/fsresources.htm
And last but not least, thank you for your continued inputs even though you
may be repeating yourself!

I swear I am going to copy what I am writing here, so I can simply paste it
into a message, as I retype this about once every 6-12 months when this
kind
of question comes up.
