The trick to longterm employment as a QE (18 yr mark approaches,
knock on wood) is to maintain a Goldilocks level of quality to exist.
That is to say;
* Not too many defects or they will scapegoat you for not
resolving the yield/reliability/field returns problem and give you a pinkslip.
* Not too few defects or they will feel safe putting an
Accountant w/ limited "real" mfg background in charge.
* He will then conclude that QE's are no longer necessary.
Reasoning that quality is everybody's job so why have QE's or a
Quality Dept? He read Crosby after all (but not all of it).
* But just the right level of Quality that keeps them
appreciating you and your Company reputation & profitability intact
