Well, ladies and gentlemen,
not many who dared guess.
Pull yourself together now and participate in the coming kisses,
it's healthy for ya brains.
I will send the quizes on Thursday hereafter, so that you have time
enough before you rush from your jobs on Friday for the waiting Tequila,
or milk or kitchen job.
Now to the answers:
a. Old Nixie tubes, that were used for e.g. frequency counters. Two persons
guessed right.
b. A MCM waiting for residual gas analysis. Noone guessed this right.
c. When the officer on a warship is on the bridge by night, he can switch on
the built-in LEDs in
his cap, and study messages, maps etc without any light escaping from the
place. It has always been
important to be careful with light during a war night mission. Even lighting
a cigarett on deck can be observed
by enemies with advanced optical means. I don't know what kind of officer
cap I used. Bought it in a
second hand shop. Noone guessed this right.
d. Russian spy satellite from the early space days. Noone guessed this
right.
e. SEM photo of a dentists diamond drill. Noone guessed this right.
f. Carbon nanotubes. 5 persons guessed this right.
I have to lower the level of difficulty a little, as it seems, so that more
people can have fun.
Better luck next week, friends, amd don't forget to dump to memory stick and
let the family take part too.
Inge
