     Mr. Brucker,

I'd attach your TechNet reply, but errantly zapped it this morning
while scanning the Net. I did read it though, and you bring up good
points about inspection criteria. We routinely perform a physical
destructive analysis (DPA) of production boards, and I have cross
sectioned many of these joints. My own experience is that they've been
troublefree, and certainly achieve compliant heel and side fillets.
Toe fillets are not a requirement for gullwing leads because the
common presence of exposed copper from the shearing process, and
occasionally the permissible toe overhang, can make those fillets very
difficult to achieve. I see a request on the Net for info on palladium
finished boards; I've not run into them yet. That could be a blessing.
