Jim,

In order to run SIR tests, you will need an inter-digitated comb pattern
from which the SIR measurements may be taken.

If this can be provided on a redundant area underneath a suitable component,
such as a QFP, then you will certainly have the most representative
information about the potential reliability of your finished assembly.

However, most folks cannot provide this. There are, in addition, some other
technical issues that should be addressed, but I don't want to complicate
things too much.

Usually a test coupon would be used that should be representative of your
circuit assembly i.e. same track width, spacing, process materials etc..

We can help you further with this but I don't want to be flamed for
spamming. So maybe you could get me more details off TechNet? Please let me
know.
