Reliable SMT Design - All There is to Know
December 18, 2002
10:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. (CST)

There's no doubt that design drives both the PCB manufacturing and assembly process. And reliability is the lynch pin between design and SMT fabrication and assembly. Part and product reliability start with design.

I know what you're thinking: "Come-on, there's no way you can teach me all there is to know about reliable SMT Design in 30 minutes!" You'd probably be right...with one exception: the course instructor is Dieter Bergman, IPC Director of Technology Transfer.

Since his days designing PCBs at Philco Ford in the 60s, virtually every design standard, guideline or document developed by IPC has been produced through Dieter Bergman's leadership. Dieter brings a wealth of experience to this course.

Topics covered in his presentation include:
· Standards your customer requires and the impact of those standards
· Variation in the parts you must mount on the board
· The solder joint: its strengths and weaknesses
· The platform (land pattern) for mounting individual parts
· Mathematical philosophy behind reliability concepts
· The significance of the new international tri-feature philosophy

The course begins at 10:00 a.m. (Central Standard Time) and concludes at 10:30 a.m. Registration for the course is complimentary, courtesy of IPC Printed Circuits Expo(R). Just complete the information below and return this form to Nancy Feaster by fax (847-509-9798) or e-mail ([log in to unmask]).
