I have used overhead ionizers for class 0 and below which have a 2' x 4'
usable distance and do not interfere with the workstation. They can be
bought with heaters in them as well so that there is no cooling effect
of the fans (operators sometimes feel a chill without the heater). They
are pricey, and look like fluorescent fixtures but work well for hot air
rework stations. Just don't forget all the rest of the controls that
come with putting ionizers in production.

Subject: [TN] Class 0 ionization

We recently found out that we have some Class 0 ESD components that
require us to provide air ionizers everywhere these parts will be worked
on. Ionization of the workstations is not an issue, but our ESD guy hung
an ionizer directly over each of the hot air rework stations. This, of
course, interferes with obtaining the proper pre-heat and reflow
profiles necessary to get good rework results.
Has anyone ever run into this conflict of requirements before, and how
did you resolve it?
