Guys and gals,



We recently sent panels to an outside service for ENIG and were just
informed of a huge problem.



At nickel inspection, before gold, they observed excessive nickel plating
across the panel.over glass. They of course stopped and called me. During
discussions about this mess they asked me what type of activator I applied
to the panels before they were brought to them. Activator???? What
activator??? They went through our standard tin-strip and di-rinse. From
previous discussions they processed them through their own tin strip, then
their sulfuric acid clean, and then nickel.



We used this company 4 times, and 3 of the orders were screwed up, it was of
course commented by them that it was something we were doing prior to
bringing product to them.



So..before bringing this final lot (as in they are off our list) to them I
requested their recommendations on how they wanted us to prepare panels for
them, in order to achieve the highest quality possible, they recommended.we
do nothing (whereas I was somewhat shocked).they said they would run them
through their own tin strip and we can expect excellent results. Well that
didn't happen.



So after the rambling.my question. Have any of you seen this occur (nickel
plating over glass), and was a cause identified?
