Inge,
not for repair soldering... but for HDI... thick/thin film stuff with
fingers...Handheld, yes. Say very bad words? I already do so without the
pen...
Phil gave me the leads on HAP60, I might try it if the latest bag of tricks
not working (pull a rabbit out of hat at the moment... could be a skunk..).

You mean handheld? We have some. Not easy to use. Either you burn components
or you don't obtain melting. I'd not use them for sensitive components. I've
heard some operators scream and say very bad words when the invisible hot
gas hits a finger. Can check brand if you want.

If you mean repair stations with TV monitor, camera, exchangeable nozzles,
NC coordinate stage etc, we have some of that kind also, but these may not
be called 'air pens'..

Subject: [TN] hot air pen

guys,
any one used hot air pen for parts rework? any brand you can recommend? I
saw "welding pen" on-line with Temp 20-600 C. It is a bit scary (melt
everything possibly). I only need small outlet of 3-5 mm diameter (small
the better) for fine pitch, but control at <200 - 250 C (don't want to be
smelly)...Hopefully, it come with temp control.
Thanks.
