I don't want this sounding like a commercial but we have always had good
luck using Jim Blakenhorns (last name?) SMT Plus patterns.  They work
for us much better than the standard IPC patterns which are good but are
only guidelines.  His patterns have been tweaked for specific processes,
for instance 1206 footprints that differ for reflow or wave solder.
