At a company I used to work for they made simple small metal gauges
shaped like a letter H but with a very wide bar in the middle. The gap
on one side was .060" and the other was .045", but you can have them
made to whatever size you require. You can have any machine shop make
them. Be sure to have them completely deburred and hardened. The ones we
used were only about an inch wide and perhaps 1/2" tall.

I have always measured it off on a standard ruler and then put a tape
mark across the ruler. If the leads hit the tape it is over. Not too
scientific but it worked and didn't require additional gauge/calibration
costs. We periodically checked the mark.

Subject: [TN] gauges

I am looking for a company that would make gauges for measuring lead
lengths. .090 in and .085 in. Any suggestions would be greatly
appreciated.
