I would look into a glass plate. I use it as a part of my process control. You
can either use it or look into putting a piece of thermal paper on the topside
of a bare panel and run it through. You should then see the paper wetting, and
you know you have good fluxing to the topside. When you use the glass plate you
want to watch for three things.
1. After fluxing, make sure you have an even thin coverage with no stips or
overlaps.
2. After preheats, you want to make sure that your solvent did "just"
evaporate.
3. You want to watch it as it goes over the wave to assure the flux is doing
it's job. Not too much nor not enough. If you hear alot of crackling as it
goes over the wave, you know you've applied too much, because it didn't
thoroughly evaporate all the solvent. I hope this helps a little.

Subject: [TN] Flux Measuring Techniques??

We are using a sprayfluxer in our wavesolder operation and Im wondering if
anyone has a good method of "measuring" the amount of flux to ensure
consistency. Any help would be appriciated.
Thanks in advance,

Mike Manwell
