Marie,

Other "Class 3" areas include but are not limited to, airborne transport systems (FAA air and ground), medical devices, automotive safety equipment (i.e. auto braking
systems), the power grid control and monitoring systems, communication hubs (voice and data), search and rescue devices (ELTs), police and fire systems and equipment, etc...
This list can be quite long.

I become very concerned when consumer components, designs, and processes (COTS) are used by manufacturers for "high reliability" infrastructure type
systems or equipment. This is becoming a serious issue around the world.

Even though "class 3" equipment represents less than 2% of the electronics market it does cover 100% of the worlds infrastructure!
